Senator Tammy Suzanne Green Baldwin (born February 11, 1962) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the junior United States senator from Wisconsin since January 2013.

She won the Democratic primary and defeated Labor and Farm nominee in the general election. She was re-elected in 1994 and 1996. She served till 1998 when she declared her intention to run for a seat at the U.S. House of Reps.
In 1998, Congressman Scott Klug retired from the U.S. House of Representatives. Baldwin ran for the seat and won the general election. She is the first woman and openly gay person in the U.S. House of Reps.
She was re-elected in 2000 and served till 2013. In 2011, Baldwin announced her candidacy for a seat at the U.S. Senate. Fortunately, she ran unopposed in the Democratic primary and faced Republican nominee Tommy Thompson in the general election.
