Senator Tammy Suzanne Green Baldwin (D) is an American lawyer and politician. She has been serving as a junior U.S. Senator from Wisconsin under the Democrats since 2013. She was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1992 to 1998. She also served as a member of the U.S. House of Reps from 1999 to 2013.
Baldwin was born in Madison, Wisconsin, on February 11, 1962. Her mother developed mental illness and opioid addiction. She grew up with her grandparents. There, she graduated from Madison West High School in 1980.
In 1984, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Mathematics from Smith College. She also received a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1989. She subsequently started private practice from 1989 to 1992.
