Senator Lisa Murkowski is an American Politician and lawyer. She has been serving as the senior United States Senator for Alaska for the past 19 years. She is the second-most senior woman of the Republican party in the Senate.
Murkowski was born on May 22, 1957. She was born in Ketchikan, Alaska. She earned her B.A. degree in 2018 in economics. She graduated from the Willamette University College of Law in 1985.

Murkowski worked as an attorney from 1987 to 1989. She served in the Alaska House of Republicans. They voted her as a majority leader before her designation in the Senate
Lisa Murkowski came to the Alaska House of Representatives in 1998. She introduced legislation to establish a Joint Armed Services Committee in 1999. Murkowski became the House Majority Leader for the 2003-04 legislative session.
While still being a member of the state House, Lisa’s father appointed her to fill his seat in the U.S. Senate after he resigned and became governor.
Murkowski ran for a full senate term in 2004 against a former governor, Tony Knowles. She looked vulnerable at the moment due to a controversy. This happened because of her father who appointed her to his seat in the Senate.
The Republican Main Street Partnership wanted to run ads for Murkowski. But there was no airtime left to buy. Ted Stevens shot ads for Murkowski near the end of the campaign. He claimed that Alaska would receive fewer federal dollars if someone was to replace Murkowski. Murkowski defeated Knowles in 2004.
Murkowski ran for senate again in 2016 and she was re-elected against Joe Miller.

Senator Murkowski has worked tirelessly since 2002. She has earned a reputation for the people of Alaska for having the ability to work to gain solutions. Murkowski has three full terms wins to the senate.
Murkowski became the only Senate candidate who had won a write-in campaign. After a two-week count of write-in ballots against Joe Miller on November 17, 2010.
Murkowski also raised her voice against domestic violence in 2015. She hosted a meeting at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. To discuss all issues related to sexual assault, domestic violence, and harassment.

Senator Murkowski was under criticism in 2010 for making a floor speech. Her speech seemed like an attack on the Clean Air Act. This Act worked as a tool to protect Americans against Global Warming. People criticized Murkowski for refusing to take actions based on scientific findings on global warming.
In 2007, Murkowski bought a property from a businessman named Bob Penney at sub-market value. The Anchorage Daily News reported that the transaction seemed like an illegal gift.
Murkowski clarified her financial disclosures in 2008. These showed an extra $60,000 in income a year from a property sale in 2003. And $40,000 income a year from the sale of her company (Alaska Pasta Company) in 2005.
The National Legal and Policy Center filed an ethics complaint against Murkowski with the Senate Committee. Murkowski said that she would sell the land one day after the complaint and she also said that she was ready to face any inquiries by the Ethics Committee.
