Bill Hagerty is an American politician, diplomat, and businessman.
He is currently serving as a junior United States Senator from Tennessee. He graduated from Madisonville North Hopkins High School in 1977. He got a B.A. degree in economics and business administration in 1981 from Vanderbilt University. He also got a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt Law School in 1984
Senator Bill Hagerty Career
Sen. Hagerty started his career by working in the Boston Consulting Group. He was an economic advisor in the administration of George Bush. He then shifted to private equity. He worked at Trident Capital in Silicon Valley. He is the co-founder of Hagerty Peterson & Company. He served as a National Finance Chair for Mitt Romney’s 2008 presidential campaign. He served as Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
Sen. Hagerty founded and led the Nashville MLS Steering Committee before becoming U.S. Ambassador to Japan. Hagerty was nominated to serve as a delegate for Jeb Bush during the 2016 presidential election. He served as Trump Victory Chair for Tennessee. Trump nominated Sen. Hagerty to become the United States Ambassador for Japan in 2017. Hagerty resigned in 2019 and Trump endorsed him for Senate. He launched his Senate campaign in September of 2019. Hagerty won the Republican primary and general elections in 2020. He took office in January of 2021.

Sen. Hagerty eliminated 40% of the positions and saved millions of taxpayer dollars during his work as commissioner of Economic and Community Development. He had a new approach that helped in a strong economic transformation in Tennessee. He helped in decreasing the unemployment rate in Tennessee providing jobs for many people.
Senator Bill Hagerty Criticisms
Bill Hagerty was criticized by Roger Sollenberger in 2020 for financial misconduct. Pinnacle Financial Partners gave Hagerty a huge loan of almost $2.5 million even though they had lost a third of their valuation. This was the same day that Trump signed the Covid Relief Act
