Senator Edward John Markey is an American Lawyer and Politician. He has been a junior United States Senator from Massachusetts under the Democrats since 2013. He served as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1973 to 1976.

He was also a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He represented Massachusetts 7th District from 1976 to 2013.

Markey was born in Malden, Massachusetts, on July 11, 1946. Markey was financially incapable of paying his college tuition. Yet, he worked as an ice cream truck driver and salesperson in Lexington. He then paid his tuition from the proceedings. He has been affiliated with Democratic Party since 1976.

Senator Ed Markey Career joined the U.S. Army Reserve after graduating from Boston College in 1968 till 1973.

He furthered and received a J.D. at Boston College Law School in 1972. He subsequently started practicing as a lawyer.

Markey started his political career as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1973. He represented the 16th and 26rh Middlesex districts till 1976.

It took no time before Markey became a famous Democrat in the state. In 1976, Markey entered a special election for a seat at the U.S. House of Reps. The special election was conducted after Congressman Tobert Macdonald died in office. 

Senator Ed Markey Career decisively defeated the Republican nominee in the general election. He was elected 19 more times, and he served till 2013.

Although Markey was endorsed for a seat at the U.S. Senate twice, he decided not to run at both times. However, in 2012, Kennedy announced his candidacy for a special election to replace Senator Kerry. Fortunately, several politicians endorsed him, and he won in 2013. He won again in 2014 and 2020.

For decades, Markey has worked hard to address issues facing his people. He also holds a deep commitment to improving the quality of life of the people of Massachusetts.
