Bio

Senator Kyrsten Lee Sinema is an American social worker, lawyer, and politician. She has been serving as a senior U.S. Senator since 2019 under the Democrat.

She served as a state rep for Arizona’s 15th Legislative district thrice. She also served as the State Senator for Arizona’s 15th Legislative district three times. Also, as the U.S. Representative for Arizona’s 15th Legislative district.

Kyrsten was born in Tucson, Arizona, on July 12, 1976. But, she went through a hard time growing up due to her poor background. But, education became her ticket to a better life. With the help of scholarships, student loans, and financial aids, she earned her B.A. at Brigham Young University in 1995.

Her experience of financial hardship motivated her to become a social worker. In 2004, Arizona State University awarded her a Master of Social Work Degree. She also earned her J.D. from Arizona College of Law and became a criminal defense lawyer in 2004.

Krysten started her political career with the Arizona Green Party. There, she was the party’s local spokeswoman. Kyrsten rose to fame for her relentless advocacy and support against rights abuse and trafficking.

In 2004, she joined the Democrats. Then, she represented District 15 in the Arizona House of Reps from 2005 to 2011. She won a seat in the U.S. Statehouse of Representatives in 2012. Unopposed in the primaries, Kyrsten won again in 2014 and 2016.

In 2018, Kyrsten won a seat in the U.S. Senate to become the first female Senator from Arizona. She is also the first elected bisexual and second LGBT woman in the House of Reps and Senate

Kyrsten’s commitment to social service led her to pass laws for the crackdown on trafficking and abuse. She also improved education status and made provision of in-state tuition for veterans. She sponsored the Earn to Learn Act and Student Testing Improvement and Accountability Act.

Kyrsten’s fight for human rights began with the Arizona Green Party, where she repealed capital punishment. She worked as an Advisory Board member for a Death Penalty Forum in Arizona. Also, she co-sponsored a letter that opposed capital punishment against LGBTQ in Saudi Arabia.

She supported running background checks on gun sales. Also, she ensured licensures for gun possession to ensure the protection of lives and properties.

Kyrsten also worked on healthcare reforms and policies to ensure easy access to affordable and quality healthcare in Arizona. She introduced Acts to increase access to licensed child care services. She also introduced Alzheimer’s caregiver support and COVID-19 survivor benefits.
